I was told last night that I’m now officially Armenian. I also discovered that I have a natural talent for rolling dough. Let me explain. That Aunt is my mom’s sister. However, we’ve always been close with That Uncle’s family. Over the years, they’ve become family as well. Last night, That Uncle’s mom and sister were visiting, and the family was making a certain Armenian food that I can barely pronounce let alone spell. I was told I showed quite a talent for making said food. Therefore, my surrogate Armenian grandmother declared that I was officially Armenian. Her exact words were “You’re officially Armenian now. Welcome to the club. Don’t be surprised if you wake up feeling extra hairy tomorrow morning.” I love this family!! Somewhere my Polish grandmother is smiling on my newfound cooking talents. And somewhere else my Irish grandmother is laughing and making fun of me.
