Well I feel like I’ve been hit by a truck. Actually, being hit by a truck might be a nice change from the hell I’m living in. It’s finals week. Nuff said. Not only do I have my own final papers to worry about, I have my students’ stuff to do too. fun. I really do love teaching, just not the last week of the semester. I’m taking tonight off. Completely. Doing exactly beans. My friend Lynda and I are taking her kids to see The Incredibles, which should be the perfect mindless break I need.
I also need major kid time. I don’t know what it is about kids that relaxes me so much. I guess it’s because they make you totally live in the moment. When you’re with a kid, they demand your full attention, which leaves you no time to worry or stress about anything else you have to do. Fortunately, I’m tutoring Thing One today. I absolutely love spending time with her. She gives the best hugs of anyone I have ever met. She hangs on like she can’t hug me tight enough. Then she tells me I’m her best friend ever. Can life get much better?
I finished my Harry Potter paper, and I’m pretty pleased with it. It still needs another one or two revisions before I turn it into the conference, but it’s not due until Dec. 31. If anyone would like to read/critique it, that would be wonderful. I would love you forever. Now I get to start on my Emily Dickinson paper. joy. Wasn’t reading all 1775 of her poems enough? Oh well, I’m not even going to think about it today. I’m taking the day off, dammit.
One last thing, congrats to Julz who met Jimmy Carter last night and then left a strangely exuberant message on my answering machine about it. I can’t wait to hear this story.
