Okay, I *know* I’ve been a slacker with blogging lately. Sorry. I’ve had several really busy weeks with another two to follow shortly. The good news is that I’m on vacation now. YAY!!!! Home for the holidays. I’m so happy that it’s Thanksgiving. I feel a need for turkey and sweet potatoes. Yum! I hope my family doesn’t have enough time to get creative in the kitchen this year. Let me explain. My mom has Thanksgiving every year. We have around 30 relatives who attend. Here’s the really nice part. She’s only in charge of cleaning and setting up the tables. Her cousin assignes all the other guests a food to bring. For example, two people do turkey, one does potatoes, four others bring vegetables, etc. It’s a really nice system. That way, whoever is hosting doesn’t have to worry about cooking too. But this also has a downside. With people only in charge of one side dish, they seem to feel the need to get creative. Not that it’s always a bad thing, but I’ve had years where my stuffing has had things floating in it that should never come within 30 feet of *any* side dish. Like raisins. I’m a fan of raisins, just not in my stuffing. I like stove top. So sue me. And sometimes the dishes just end up being scary. Not your normal Thanksgiving fare. I’ll be extremely thankful this year if I can just have a nice normal dinner with normal turkey, stuffing, and sweet potatoes. I don’t think that’s too much to ask, do you?
