Okay, sorry about the loooong absence. It’s been a crazy week. I had a huge presentation due on Thursday. But that’s not what I want to blog about right now. I had a very interesting day yesterday. First, the only bright spot on election day was that I met a guy named Josh. He’s very nice, a democrat, and a special ed science teacher. Long story short, we went out yesterday. He gets free admission to a lot of the museums around Philly because he’s a teacher. So, we went to the Natural History Museum. It was okay. Apparently, I’m really spoiled by the Carnegie and never realized that. It only took us about 30 min. to get through the whole thing. He asked me what I wanted to do next, and I told him there was a museum a few blocks away that I’ve always wanted to visit – The Mutter Museum. If you’ve never been there, I promise it is an absolutely unique experience that you will never forget. It’s a collection of medical oddities that was used for many decades by medical students studying in the area. They have some way cool stuff. They have a wall of fetuses in formaldehyde, a wall of tumors, and a gigantic intestine, among other things. They also have several dehydrated bodies, which are really cool because you can see all of the veins and arteries. I liked it a lot because it was set up to be educational, not to gross you out or scare you. Josh and I both agreed it was one of the coolest places we’ve ever been.
Okay, you can start making fun of me now. Here, let me help you. Great place for a first date. Dinner and a movie is so overrated. Okay, continue. Anyhow, I’m not really a flower and candy girl myself, especially since I have allergies and a horrible intolerance to sugar. I’m not really sure if the spark is there, but this is definitely the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
